West Park Kamm’s Neighborhood Development condemns racism in all forms and recognizes the gross injustices facing people of color through systemic racism.
The events of the past 10 days, including the senseless killing of George Floyd, require more thought than a declaration of our opposition to racism. Our organization must actively engage in dismantling the systemic racism that has plagued our nation for centuries. WPKND can do more, and today we commit to you that we will.
Our organization has much to learn, and our staff and board will continue to engage in opportunities like the Racial Equity Institute – Groundwater and Phase I Workshops that provide context and specific knowledge to help us confront and question the biases that lie within each of us. In the coming weeks, our organization will also embark on a planning process to set goals for the next 18 to 24 months. Social justice, equity, and confronting racism will be core values that shape this process.
Finally, we will engage the broader community in these conversations through open dialogues with our neighbors and greater partnerships with community groups like West Park Neighbor Night. Together, we can uphold our mission to elevate the quality of life for all in West Park.
In solidarity,

West Park Kamm’s Neighborhood Development Board and Staff
