The city owned parking lot bordered by W. 168 and Albers Avenue (behind Walgreens and West Park Station restaurant) will be closed completely from 6am on Tuesday, May 28, through Thursday, May 30 at 8pm. Vehicles parked in the lot during these hours will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

The closure will allow for the resurfacing and striping of the parking lot as the final piece of the renovation.

Three days of closure will bring West Park a completely renovated parking lot, including “bioswales” that will divert nearly 1,000,000 gallons of stormwater runoff from our sewer system and the Rocky River. The project was primarily funded through a $250,000 grant from the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), secured by KCDC with the assistance of Councilman Marty Keane. The City of Cleveland kicked in the rest of the funding, and has managed the project. In addition to the bio-infrastucture, new bike racks have been installed near the walkway adjacent to Backstage Bar, and a new sidewalk exiting to Albers Avenue has been added.
Due to an improved striping design, no parking spaces have been lost!
To celebrate such an accomplishment, a gala ribbon cutting including Councilman Keane, and representatives of NEORSD, the City of Cleveland, Cook Paving (General Contractor), and KCDC will take place in the parking lot on the opening day of the Kamm’s Cornners Farmers Market on Sunday June 9 at 11:30am. Please join us for the festivities and a little shopping too!
