Starting on April 8, improvements and renovations will be made to the city-owned municipal parking lot at Albers Avenue and West 168th Street. The lot will be milled and filled, meaning the removal of the top 1.5 inches of asphalt, followed by being patched and resurfaced with new asphalt. In addition, green infrastructure will be installed to capture storm water run-off, preventing as many as one million gallons from entering the city’s sewer system every year.
While the majority of the parking lot will remain open during the project, portions will be closed as construction starts at the west end and moves east. The lot will be fully closed for two very brief periods when the milling work is underway and when the asphalt resurfacing takes place.
Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Substantial completion is expected by early to mid June. The first Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market of the season is Sunday, June 9. The Hooley on Kamm’s Corners is Saturday, June 15.
The improvements are being funded by a $250,000 grant from the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District combined with $75,000 from the City of Cleveland.
